Partey runs towards the edge of the box and tries a curling effort from 25 yards. It is far, far over the bar though. Up the other end Carlos Correa creates a little space for the shot in the left of the box but it is completely miscued and is well wide of the near post.

42'
A spell of pressure from Sevilla results in a corner. Which is, as is the theme of the game, comfortably cleared away at the front post by the Atletico defence.
40'
Saul tries to take matters into his own hands after a long throw-in is cleared. He dribbles past two players and into the Sevilla box but finds nothing but a wall of black shirts blocking any further progress. Just before that, a diagonal chipped pass found Griezmann on the edge of the box, who took one touch before firing the ball goalwards. He was well tracked by Daniel Carrico, who got the block in.
38'
Vrsaljko swings a cross towards the back post towards the waiting Griezmann but it is intercepted by the head of Mercado. Sevilla looking comfortably defensively.
35'
It's all gone rather quiet in the stands but it's not hard to see why. There has not been much worth cheering about in these last 10 minutes. Most of the play is in midfield with a real lack of any final product.
32'
Atletico win a corner on the left. Koke swings it in to the near post where Saul Niguez meets it, but his header is wide of the front post.
30'
There is just nothing going for these sides in the final third at the moment. Sevilla look to push into the Atletico box but the pass for Mercado on the right-wing is played behind the defender and out of play. At the other end, Gabi tries a lofted ball for the run of Carrrasco but it is overhit.

23'
Sevilla are looking like they are gaining some form of control of the game now. They are moving the ball well around the midfield with Atletico Madrid just sitting deep and defending well.
21'
The game is starting to open up a little bit now as both sides grow into the game. Not much goalmouth action to speak of though other than those two that hit the woodwork.
18'
Now it is Atletico's turn to hit the woodwork. A lovely chipped pass finds Carrasco on the left of the Sevilla box. He swings it into the box where it finds Filipe Luis waiting. The defenders left-footed half-volley is sweetly struck but it just curls into the underside of the crossbar and bounces out. So, so close to the opener.
16'
Vietto uses his pace way to accelerate into the left of the Sevilla box and away from the defenders. He tries to pull it across the face of goal but it is blocked away at the near post.
12'
A good spell of pressure from Sevilla comes close to resulting in a goal. Sarabia tries his luck from range with a low driven effort, which strikes the leg of an Atletico defender and bobbles towards the left post. with Oblak wrong-footed. Luckily for the Atletico keeper, it hits the outside of the woodwork and rolls away.
10'
Both sides are lacking any real flow to their play at the moment. Any passes in the final thirds are quickly cut out and nobody taking up the mantle to drive their teams forward.
8'
A brilliant charge forward by Atletico centre-back Lucas Hernandez. He plays it onto the left wing before charging into the Sevilla box. He is inches away from meeting the pass but Rico beats him to it.
5'
When Sevilla do get the ball they seem a little tentative as they go forward. Franco Vazquez takes his time to pick a pass which is easily intercepted by Vrsaljko. It opens up the space for the Atletico counter-attack but the pull back towards the edge of the box is snuffed out by the Sevilla defence.
3'
Sevilla's gameplan is clear from the off here. They are pressing Atletico really high and forcing them to play long balls towards Griezmann. Good pressure from the away side.
2'
The first chance of the game falls Atletico's way. A poor clearance by Clement Lenglet is straight into Vietto on the edge of the box. He runs onto the loose ball before firing a low effort towards goal, but it is just wide of the right post.

And we're off! Atletico Madrid get us underway, kicking right to left.
Good afternoon and welcome to our live text commentary of today’s La Liga game between Atletico Madrid and Sevilla at the Wanda Metropolitano.
This lunchtime kick off sees the league’s current best defence in Sevilla facing the third highest scorers in Atletico Madrid, with only two points between them. Sevilla have conceded only one league goal in five games and Atletico have scored ten. The stage looks set for an interesting tie.
Atletico Madrid overcame a tricky encounter against Athletic Bilbao on Wednesday, with substitute Yannick Carrasco’s second half strike securing a 2-1 victory. Diego Simeone’s side have yet to lose this season but neither have their opponents, and the Argentine will be wary that Sevilla will be a much trickier obstacle than any of their league games so far.
There’s just over 15 minutes left to go until kick-off, so let’s have a look at how the two teams will be lining up this afternoon…
Atletico Madrid Substitutes: Moya, Godin, Thomas, Correa, Juanfran, Gameiro, Gaitan.
Sevilla Substitutes: Corchia, Krohn-Dehli, Yedder, Correa, Soria, Pizarro, Pareja.
Goalkeeper Sergio Rico, defender Gabriel Mercado, midfielder Steven N’Zonzi and winger Jesus Navas are the only players to retain their place in the starting line-up from their midweek win over Las Palmas for Sevilla. Manager Berizzo has picked a side that will be dangerous on the counter-attack, with Jesus Navas, Luis Muriel and Pablo Sarabia lining up as a front three.
The two sides are making their way out onto the pitch, with just a few minutes to go until kick-off.
Sevilla are on a win streak of four games in the league, following up their 2-2 Champions League draw with Liverpool with back to back 1-0 wins against Girona and Las Palmas. They are only two points adrift of pace setters Barcelona and face the prospect of leapfrogging the Catalan club if they were to beat Atletico today, albeit temporarily.
Eduardo Berizzo will be missing two players in this potentially pivotal encounter. Goalkeeper David Soria and former Manchester City winger Nolito are both out injured. Sevilla will also entertain Maribor in their Champions League tie on Tuesday so they may rotate to take that into account.
Atletico Madrid have no absentees for today’s tie. Simeone may be tempted to stick with the same side that beat Bilbao during the week, but with a Champions League tie against Chelsea to look forward to, rotation may be necessary.
HALF-TIME: ATLETICO MADRID 0-0 SEVILLA
Goalless at the break with both sides lacking any real threat in the final third. Both sides did hit the woodwork but beyond that they have shown nothing to suggest they can go on and win this game. Very evenly matched affair but both sides will have to step it up in the second half if they want to walk away with the three points.
The teams are making their way back out onto the pitch ahead of the start of the second half.
Atletico Madrid XI (4-4-2): Oblak; Vrsaljko, Savic, Hernandez, Filipe Luis; Koke, Gabi, Saul, Carrasco; Vietto, Griezmann.
Gabriel Fernandez and Sime Vrsaljko have overcome the injuries that kept them out of the Bilbao tie in midweek and take their place as two of the five changes made to the side from that midweek tie. Luciano Vietto partners Antoine Griezmann in place of Angel Correa, Diego Godin is replaced by Lucas Hernandez and midfielders Osvaldo Gaitan and Thomas Partey are replaced by Gabi and Carrasco.
FULL-TIME: ATLETICO MADRID 2-0 SEVILLA
A comfortable afternoon in the end for Atletico Madrid. They leapfrog their opponents into second place after a mistake by Steven N'Zonzi allowed Yannick Carrasco to nick the ball and slot into an empty net before Antoine Griezmann doubled their lead with a low drive through the keeper's legs. Sevilla had plenty of possession throughout but never showed any real signs for putting pressure on Diego Simeone's side, who's unbeaten run in La Liga continues.
