Slovenia try to push forward on one final attack as they desperately try to find a way back into the game with what should be their final attacking move. They're unable to carve out a chance on goal though, and Birsa ends up receiving a yellow card for a late challenge on Henderson.

England will play with a three-man defence for the remainder of the game, as Sterling has made way for Michael Keane.

Description
83'
Hart seems to have slightly injured himself after trying to deal with a looping cross towards the near post. He looked to tangle with Verbic as the two battled for the ball, but it seems as if he's going to be able to continue without too many problems.
81'
A lofted pass from Kane flies over the top of the Slovenian defence and manages to pick out Lingard on the edge of the penalty area. He can't quite make decent contact with the ball though, and he ends up poking it into the hands of Oblak.
79'
T. Matavž enters the game and replaces R. Rotman.
Slovenia have made their third and final change, with Tim Matavz coming on to take the place of Rotman. It's an attacking alteration by the visitors.
77'
Verbic breaks down the left flank as he tries to latch onto a lofted pass over towards the corner flag, but he's put under good pressure by Walker and loses out the full-back, who crashes onto the hard ground out of play but doesn't seem to injure himself too badly.
75'
A clever chipped cross from Birsa sails into the heart of the England box and manages to pick out Ilicic, but he can't quite make decent contact with the ball and, under pressure from Cahill, quickly loses possession before he can shoot.
74'
There's a coming together between Stones and Cesar, and it's one that leaves the latter in a heap on the floor. The Slovenia players aren't happy at what they see as being a cynical push by the England defender, but the referee doesn't seem particularly bothered about the incident and play quickly gets underway once again.
73'
A good cross from Rashford flies towards Kane, but Mevlja just about manages to get a toe on the ball ahead of the striker, resulting in a corner. It's Rashford who swings the set-piece in, but Oblak is there to comfortably collect the ball under very little pressure.
72'
J. Repas enters the game and replaces R. Bezjak.
Slovenia have made their second alteration, with Bezjak making way for Jan Repas.
70'
England quickly come back once again as Sterling tries to carve open another goalscoring opportunity for the home side, but the lofted pass into the Slovenia box towards the winger fails to pick him out and bounces behind for a goal-kick.
68'
And now Kane goes close! Once again, Sterling is denied by Cesar, who throws his body in frony of the forward's low strike. The ball then rolls back to Kane, who quickly unleashes a follow-up effort that bounces agonisingly wide of the far post. England are getting closer to opening the scoring.

England keep pushing forward as they try to build on the momentum gained over the last few minutes, but his curling strike from 25 yards out fails to find the target and instead sails high over the crossbar.
66'
Great block by Cesar! A low cross from Rashford looks set to find Kane, but Cesar manages to beat the striker to the ball at the vital moment. England have made their first substitution of the night, with Jesse Lingard coming on to replace Oxlade-Chamberlain.
63'
Rashford goes close to opening the scoring! A Slovenia attacking move fails to result in a chance on goal, allowing England to counter-attack quickly. Rashford bursts into the left-hand side of the visitors' penalty area and manages to chip the ball over the on-rushing Oblak, but there isn't enough power on the youngster's strike and it's easily dealt with by Rotman.
61'
A curling cross from Henderson manages to pick out Kane at the far post, but a slight deflection from Mevlja puts off the striker, denying him the opportunity to get a shot away from a decent position.
59'
A terrible piece of play between Hart and Walker allows Benjamin Verbic to fire a low, bouncing cross into the middle of the penalty area, where Stones is just about able to knock the ball behind for a corner that is just about dealt with by the home side.
57'
There's a bit of a coming together between Rashford and Struna after the young Englishman catches the right-back on the halfway line, but it's quickly brought to an end by the referee and Slovenia are awarded a free-kick.

50'
Henderson and Rashford link up nicely on the edge of the Slovenia box, allowing the latter to penetrate the penalty area and cross. He's unable to pick out a team-mate though, as Mevlja is there to get a foot on the ball at the vital moment.
48'
Big chance for Slovenia! A deep cross in from the right wing manages to pick out Jokic at the back post. The full-back easily gets the better of Oxlade-Chamberlain and nods the ball across the face of goal, where Hart is just about able to collect it after fumbling initially.
46'
We're underway once again!
45' +2

45' +1
M. Mevlja gets yellow.
Iliic loses the ball on the halfway line, allowing England to hit the visitors on a quick counter-attack. Sterling darts down the left flank on a great run before taking on Mevlja, who catches the winger with a poor challenge and gives away a free-kick in a dangerous position.
45'
The fourth official has indicated that there will be just one minute of added time.

41'
England's next corner is a better one and manages to curl straight onto the head of Kane, but the referee quickly blows for a Slovenia free-kick for pushing. Kane's headed effort eventually finds the back of the net, but only after Oblak has given up and started walking out of the six-yard box.
40'
Rashford and Bertrand show good understanding with one another before England win themselves a corner. It's whipped in by the Manchester United teenager and almost finds Cahill, but Sporar does well to get his head to the ball and nod it behind for another corner.
38'
R. Krhin gets yellow.
Krhin has been a bit late with several of his tackles this evening, and he finally receives the first yellow card of the game after clashing with Henderson in the middle of the pitch.
37'
England are often trying to play out from the back, but they're failing to do so quickly enough and are almost running themselves into trouble. Slovenia's front line are putting the hosts' defence under good pressure, denying them the opportunity to pick out the midfielders waiting in front of them.
35'
Another rash challenge from Krhin catches Sterling late, and once again England win themselves a free-kick in a great position just outside of the visitors' box. Walker steps up and shoots, but his curling strike has far too much power behind it and the effort sails comfortably over the top of the crossbar.
33'
Sporar does well to muscle his way into the right-hand side of the England penalty area before squaring a pass across the face of goal. It's a decent ball, but there's nobody there to get on the end of it, much to the striker's annoyance.
31'
Space opens up just outside of the Slovenia box and allows Rashford to dart inside and get a shot away, but he's just about closed down by a group of green shirts and can only scuff his strike straight up into the air.
29'
It hasn't been the most impressive opening 30-minute period for England, but Rashford has arguably been their bright spark. He's impressed over on the left flank, where most of the hosts' best attacking moves are taking place.
27'
Slovenia are presented with a good opportunity to counter-attack after dealing with the corner, but England are just about able to get enough white shirts back just as a poor cross in from Bezjak fails to pick out a team-mate on the edge of the penalty area.
26'
After plenty of pushing and shoving inside the box brings a temporary halt to the game, the resulting corner is eventually crossed towards the near post. Eric Dier darts in front of his marker as he attempts to reach the ball, but he's unable to and the danger is well saved.
25'
Chance for Henderson! Rashford twists and turns deep down on the left wing before being clumsily brought down by Struna, resulting in another free-kick for England in a promising position. It's sent short and worked over to Henderson, who eventually unleashes a decent shot from the edge of the penalty area that's well saved by Oblak.
23'
Oxlade-Chamberlain charges down the right flank as he tries to get on the end of a hopeful ball forward from Gary Cahill. He's able to do so and wins England a throw-in, but it fails to result in a chance on goal and is easily dealt with by Slovenia.
21'
Sterling is clattered into by a late challenge from Rene Krhin, resulting in a free-kick for England in a very promising position 25 yards away from goal. Kane steps up and shoots, but his thumping strike fails to beat the wall camped in front of him.
19'
Almost a great chance for Roman Bezjak! Ilicic launches a beautiful cross that sails into the heart of the England box and picks out Bezjak in front of goal, but the forward can't quite make contact with the ball and ends up scuffing it away from goal.
17'
Ryan Bertrand darts into the left-hand side of the Slovenia penalty area and almost manages to latch onto a clever pass forward from Rashford, but Miha Mevlja is there to poke the ball behind for a corner. The set-piece is sent short to Rashford and sets up the youngster to unleash a cross-cum-shot, and it's one that momentarily causes a few problems for Oblak.
15'
A poor attempted clearance from Hart fails to find Walker, allowing Slovenia to counter-attack quickly once again. This time it's Andraz Sporar who cuts in from the left and shoots from the edge of the box, but his effort fails to get the better of Hart at the near post.
14'
Harry Kane picks up the ball in a pocket of space 25 yards away from goal and quickly gets a shot away, but it curls straight into the hands of Jan Oblak and is easily dealt with by the Atletico Madrid goalkeeper.
12'
England are finally able to regain possession after a few nervy moments, and they continue patiently working the ball around inside the visitors' half of the pitch. Henderson eventually launches a lofted pass over to the left wing, but it's easily dealt with by Struna.
10'
Slovenia keep putting pressure on their opponents, despite the corner failing to result in a chance on goal. Ilicic gets back on the ball and weaves his way forward before shooting, but his strike is quickly closed down by white shirts and deflects away from goal.
9'
Another attempted England attacking move fails to come to anything, allowing Slovenia to counter-attack quickly. The visitors do well to cause problems for the home side on the break and Josip Ilicic looks set to force Joe Hart into the save, but the goalkeeper is just about able to palm the ball behind for a corner. It looked as if Hart may have caught Ilicic's leg, which resulted in the attacking midfielder half-heartedly asking the referee for a penalty.
8'
Kyle Walker makes a good run down the right wing as he tries to latch onto a lofted pass forward from Jordan Henderson. The full-back is just about able to get a toe on the ball, but he can't quite control it and Slovenia manage to hold on.
6'
Bostjan Cesar is easily beaten by Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain as the winger cuts inside from the right flank and into the box. The Liverpool man has to settle for another, and the second quickly turns into a third that is overhit and bounces over to the left wing.
4'
More good play by England sees Raheem Sterling skip into the right-hand side of the Slovenia penalty area. He then tries to cut a clever pass across the face of goal, but, once again, the visitors do well to deal with the danger.
2'
Marcus Rashford darts down the left wing and gets himself into a good position before being pulled back by Aljaz Struna, resulting in a free-kick for England in a promising position. It's swung in by the youngster, but Bojan Jokic is there to clear the danger without any problems.

We're off! England get us underway, attacking from right to left.
Good evening and welcome to our live text commentary of today’s World Cup 2018 qualifier between England and Slovenia at Wembley.
With just one more qualifying game to go after this, England head into tonight’s clash knowing that a victory will confirm their place in next year’s tournament. The Three Lions should comfortably get the better of minnows Lithuania in their final outing on Sunday, but manager Gareth Southgate will be aiming to finish the job this evening as they attempt to avoid any last-minute scares.
England did well to fight back from 1-0 down to beat Slovakia 2-1 in their last qualifier, giving them a healthy five-point lead over their nearest challengers. As was the case when successfully qualifying for the 2014 tournament, they remain on course to finish the campaign unbeaten if they can hold on against Slovenia and Lithuania, with only two of their eight games failing to end in victories.
Despite being confident about their chances of picking up another win here tonight, England will be well aware that Slovenia gave them a tough time when they last met almost exactly a year ago. Southgate’s men had to settle for a goalless draw on what was a difficult evening in Ljubljana, and their opponents could give them another tough time today as they battle with Slovakia and Scotland for a play-off place.
It’s going to be a nervy end to qualifying for Slovenia, who currently sit equal on points with Scotland and just one behind Slovakia. The latter two sides are facing one another in Glasgow tonight, and a win for either coupled with an England victory could prove fatal for the Three Lions’ visitors. They desperately need to pick up their fifth win of the campaign if they’re to have any hope of reaching their first World Cup since 2010.
There’s just under 15 minutes left to go until kick-off, so let’s have a look at how the two teams will be lining up this evening…
England XI (4-2-3-1): Hart; Walker, Stones, Cahill, Bertrand; Henderson, Dier; Oxlade-Chamberlain, Sterling, Rashford; Kane.
Gareth Southgate has decided to make two changes to the England side that started the victory against Slovakia last month, with John Stones and Raheem Sterling coming into the starting line-up to replace Phil Jones and the suspended Dele Alli.
Meanwhile, Slovenia boss Srecko Katanec has made four alterations to the team that featured in their last outing, with Nejc Skubic, Mitja Viler, Jasmin Kurtic and Jan Repas making way for Aljaz Struna, Bojan Jokic, Rene Krhin and Roman Bezjak, respectively.
The two sides are making their way out onto the pitch, with just a few minutes to go until kick-off.
HALF-TIME: ENGLAND 0-0 SLOVENIA
Both the atmosphere and performance inside Wembley have been flat this evening, leaving the fans with little to talk about at the half-time break. England haven't necessarily been bad but they've struggled to cause too many problems for Slovenia, despite a decent performance from Rashford. The youngster has arguably been the hosts' best player so far, but even he's found it difficult to get the better of the oppositions' stubborn defence.
The two teams are making their way back out on to the pitch ahead of the start of the second half. Neither side have made any substitutions during the half-time break.
FULL-TIME: ENGLAND 1-0 SLOVENIA
It wasn't the best of nights for England, who struggled to cause many problems for a Slovenia defence that looked comfortable for most of the game, but they're nonetheless able to leave with all three points thanks to yet another goal for Kane. It's a victory that has confirmed their place at next year's tournament in Russia, and one that will have made Gareth Southgate a very relieved man indeed.
