Jesus enters the referee's book for something he said.
FULL-TIME: MANCHESTER UNITED 2-0 MANCHESTER CITY
90' +6
S. McTominay has scored a goal for Manchester United!
GOOOOOAAAAAAALLLLL!!!!! UNITED 2-0 CITY!!! In a rush to get the ball forward, Ederson rolls the ball straight to McTominay around 35 yards from goal. The United substitute does not have to think twice - he takes on the shot first time, finds the unguarded net and leaves City's keeper red faced.
90' +5
H. Maguire gets yellow.
Maguire is shown a late yellow card by Mike Dean, seemingly for wasting time.
90' +4
Matic kicks Mahrez and City have a free-kick. It is worked short and is eventually crossed into the box by Mendy, but Maguire is once again first to it.
90' +3
Three of the five added-on minutes have been played and there is no change to the flow of the game. City are completely bossing possession but United are not exactly holding on.
90' +1
SAVE! Sterling is given a bit of space on the edge of the box to control Cancelo's pass and then get a shot away. Like his effort in the first half, it is very weak and De Gea does not have to break stride to keep it out.
90'
Ederson reads the danger well to race well outside his box and sweep up before James can pounce. Five minutes have been added on at Old Trafford.
89'
Pass, pass, pass from City but no way through. Mendy gets a yard on his man down the left, but the cross is horribly overhit and Mahrez cannot keep it in play.
88'
O. Ighalo enters the game and replaces Bruno Fernandes.
Fan favourite Fernandes is replaced by fellow newbie Ighalo for the final couple of minutes.
87'
It looks as though Ighalo will be introduced late on for the home side. Fernandes gets to the ball before Mendy and support is offered by Matic. For the first time in a while, United are passing the ball around in the opposition half.
Minute
Description
86'
Mendy is slipped in down the left. He has a chance to set himself for the cross, which is cleared by Maguire.
85'
Guardiola's men are struggling to create that one killer chance they need. United are happy to sit back on their one-goal lead and they now have less than 10 minutes to see through.
84'
Maguire and Wan-Bissaka combine to stop Jesus inside the penalty box. Both United players are at full stretch and get enough of the ball to ensure a penalty is not given.
82'
Mendy finds Mahrez with a good floated pass, but Shaw gets across to dispossess the City winger before he can cross.
81'
James leads the United counter - as he so often does - but the chance to release Fernandes does not present itself and the attack comes to a disappointing end.
80'
United are dropping incredibly deep, with pretty much all 11 players back behind the ball. It is now just a question of whether City can find a way through in the remaining 10 minutes.
78'
E. Bailly enters the game and replaces B. Williams.
S. McTominay enters the game and replaces A. Martial.
McTominay is on for Martial in the second of United's changes.
Solskjaer turns to his bench for the first time today by bringing on Bailly for Williams.
77'
B. Mendy enters the game and replaces O. Zinchenko.
Mendy is on for Zinchenko in City's third and final change.
74'
Foden's attempt in the 56th minute is City's only effort on target in the second half. They are asking questions of United, but they need to start getting efforts on goal.
73'
Maguire heads wide from the corner as United enjoy a spell on top. City have seemingly lost all the momentum they had built up.
70'
De Gea flaps at a corner when he perhaps could have caught it. Not that it matters - the ball comes back into the middle and United once again deal with it.
69'
City have played a lot better in this second half but they are still lacking in terms of creativity. Mahrez turns Williams inside out down the right and swings a cross into the six-yard box, though none of his team-mates gamble and it goes right through without a touch.
67'
The visitors work the free-kick short to Zinchenko but that proves to be the wrong choice as United comfortably deal with the ball into the box. Solskjaer may be tempted to turn to his bench because his side are second best at the moment.
65'
City are definitely starting to turn the screw a little as Foden is fouled by a mixture of Matic and Fred. They are a lot quicker on the ball and still have plenty of time to score the two goals they are after.
63'
James powers away from Zinchenko down the right and has Martial for support in the middle. His cross towards the France international is a little heavy and goes right through the box.
62'
NEARLY! Otamendi gets his head to Gundogan's corner, flashing the ball just over the bar. City are starting to enjoy some sustained pressure.
61'
Foden is now playing in a more central position, with Mahrez operating out on the right. Aguero's thigh is being tapped up on the bench - he will now surely be a fitness doubt for Wednesday's clash with Arsenal.
59'
João Cancelo gets yellow.
Gabriel Jesus enters the game and replaces S. Agüero.
R. Mahrez enters the game and replaces Bernardo Silva.
Cancelo slides in on Williams and is shown the fourth yellow card of the contest.
Mahrez replaces Bernardo in the second of City's substitutions.
Jesus is on for Aguero as Guardiola makes a double change with an hour played.
58'
Foden links up with Bernardo down the right. There is no way through down that avenue so City shift it to the other side, but the ball runs loose and United clear their lines.
56'
GOOD EFFORT! Foden wins a corner off Williams and City work it short. The ball is shifted to Foden around 25 yard from goal and his swerving shot is palmed over the crossbar by De Gea.
54'
It has been a lively start to the second half, then, with City having a goal ruled out and Ederson nearly gifting United a second goal. The hosts are now enjoying a spell on top as they look to give themselves some breathing space.
52'
Martial stayed down after being tackled by Ederson but is now okay to continue. Replays show that earlier Aguero goal was disallowed because his shoulder was offside.
46'
RESTART! City get us back under way at Old Trafford. Guardiola has surprisingly decided against making any substitutions at the interval, while United are also unchanged.
45' +2
HALF-TIME: MANCHESTER UNITED 1-0 MANCHESTER CITY
45' +1
Two minutes have been added on at Old Trafford, the first of which has already been played. Guardiola will probably welcome the half-time whistle because his team have been poor.
45'
Otamendi has really struggled in this first half. He nearly conceded a penalty a few minutes ago and has again given the ball away here, but United are unable to make the most of it.
43'
United midfielder Fred was a little unfortunate to be booked for diving - there was definitely some sort of contact from Otamendi. Should that have been a penalty for the hosts?
42'
Fred gets yellow.
Fred goes to ground inside the City box, but referee Mike Dean feels he dived under minimal contact from Otamendi and reaches into his pocket.
41'
It is another scary moment for City as the ball drops inside the penalty box, but Ederson gets to it before Martial.
40'
Wan-Bissaka gets past Zinchenko with ease but is unable to pick out a team-mate with his cross. James is also being given plenty of freedom down the United right as the hosts tighten their grip on the contest.
36'
Wan-Bissaka uses the full frame of his body to stop Sterling from getting in behind. Sterling, Foden and Aguero are being kept very quiet.
35'
United are looking very confident - and no wonder given they have dominated the last 10 minutes of the match. City may have seen more of the ball, but they have done very little with it.
33'
Replays show that United were perhaps fortunate to be given a free-kick for Gundogan's challenge on Fernandes in the build-up to their goal. Fernandinho and Rodri were both cautioned for protesting the decision and United made the most of the set-piece.
31'
Fernandes sends a header wide when picked out in the box. City are struggling to contain United.
30'
Rodri gets yellow.
A. Martial has scored a goal for Manchester United! Assist by Bruno Fernandes.
GOOOOOAAAAALLLL!!!!! UNITED 1-0 CITY!!! Fernandes chips a free-kick over City's wall and Martial, having got away from a couple of players, volleys past Ederson at the City keeper's near post. Ederson will wonder exactly how that one squirmed through his grasp.
This set-piece routine was right off the training ground. Fernandes picked out the run of Martial and the forward found the back of the net.
Rodri is also booked for protesting the decision to award United a free-kick.
29'
Fernandinho gets yellow.
CHANCE! Martial gets the better of Fernandinho down the left-hand side and carries the ball into the box. He sets himself to pick out the far corner with his curler, but in the end he shoots pretty much straight at Ederson.
Gundogan goes right through Fernandes as United win another free-kick. City's players are furious with the decision and Fernandinho is cautioned for protesting.
28'
Despite having just 27 per cent of the ball, United are looking just as dangerous as City when they get into the opposition half. In fact, they have arguably edged things so far as James and Martial have both had half-decent opportunities.
26'
After a lot of build-up, Fernandes fires the 25-yard free-kick against Gundogan in the middle of City's three-man wall.
25'
James is allowed to cover a good 25 yards with the ball as Otamendi backs off. Just before he can get into the penalty area, Otamendi steps across him to concede a free-kick.
23'
BLOCKED! Martial does brilliantly to control Williams' floated pass. He takes the shot early after spotting Ederson off his line, but it is blocked by the body of Otamendi.
22'
City are starting to get the ball in some dangerous positions now, with Zinchenko being given plenty of freedom in the middle of the park. He drifts to the left and his cross is blocked by Maguire.
19'
That is now one half-decent chance each for both sides, with Sterling and James testing De Gea and Ederson respectively. United have had just 30 per cent of the ball so far.
17'
SHOT! United turn over possession 10 yards inside the opposition half and within seconds Fernandes plays in James. The angle is against the young winger and his shot is easily kept out by Ederson.
16'
Foden tries to thread the ball through for Aguero but the pass is intercepted on the edge of the box. United are playing like the away side, sitting back and focusing on the counter.
14'
Maguire fails to get any real distance on his headed clearance but Aguero, played in by Sterling, is unable to make him pay as Matic produces a good challenge in the box.
13'
That Sterling shot came as a result of some poor play from Shaw near the halfway line. There are signs that the visitors are just starting to find their rhythm.
11'
SAVE! Foden spreads the ball to Sterling, who controls it and attempts to curl one into the bottom-right corner. It is at a nice height for De Gea to push aside.
10'
It has been a cagey start to the Manchester derby, to say the least. James gets involved high up on the left for the first time today, but once again United's attack fizzles out.
9'
Gundogan swings a corner towards the six-yard box and it is a United head that gets to it first. The ball comes back into the middle, where Williams is well positioned to cut out the cross before Aguero can pounce.
8'
Fred produces a good challenge to halt a City attack. Neither team have been able to get on the ball in the final third in the opening eight minutes.
6'
City are now starting to settle into the game as they patiently knock the ball around. Gundogan sloppily gives away possession, but United are unable to capitalise.
4'
A roar goes around Old Trafford as Martial is given something to chase down, but Cancelo beats him to Zinchenko's loose pass.
3'
Foden is starting wide on the right for City, with Sterling on the opposite side and Aguero through the middle. Guardiola's men have not seen a great deal of the ball so far.
2'
The home side are pressing their opponents high in the opening exchanges. Martial tries to carry the ball down the left-hand side but his run is halted.
1'
KICK-OFF! United, who have already beaten City twice in all competitions this season, get us up and running at Old Trafford.
Hello and welcome to our live coverage of the Premier League meeting between Manchester United and Manchester City at Old Trafford.
United have gone nine games without defeat in all competitions ahead of this fourth Manchester derby of the season, culminating in a 3-0 win over Derby County on Thursday in the fifth round of the FA Cup. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's men have won two and drawn two of their four league matches during that unbeaten sequence, leaving them six points off fourth-placed Chelsea with this game in hand to play.
City are also in good form thanks to a run of five successive victories in four different competitions. Pep Guardiola's side lifted the EFL Cup last weekend and saw off Sheffield Wednesday for a place in the quarter-finals of the FA Cup in midweek, but now focus turns back to the Premier League. Victory today will give them a 10-point gap on third-placed Leicester City.
Subs: Odion Ighalo, Juan Mata, Eric Bailly, Sergio Romero, Axel Tuanzebe, Mason Greenwood, Scott McTominay.
UNITED XI (3-4-1-2): David de Gea; Victor Lindelof, Harry Maguire (c), Luke Shaw; Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Nemanja Matic, Fred, Brandon Williams; Bruno Fernandes, Daniel James, Anthony Martial.
Subs: Eric Garcia, Gabriel Jesus, Riyad Mahrez, Benjamin Mendy, Claudio Bravo, David Silva, Kyle Walker.
The teams are coming out onto the pitch at Old Trafford, with kick-off just moments away.
CITY XI (4-3-3): Ederson; Joao Cancelo, Nicolas Otamendi, Fernandinho (c), Oleksandr Zinchenko; Bernardo Silva, Rodri, Ilkay Gundogan; Phil Foden, Sergio Aguero, Raheem Sterling.
Guardiola will surely make a change or two at the interval because his side, despite seeing 69 per cent of the ball, did not get going at all in the first half. City managed just one shot of any note - their fewest in the opening 45 minutes of a league game since October 2018. They have Mahrez, Silva and Jesus on their bench, while United can call upon the likes of Ighalo, Greenwood and Mata should they wish.
The visitors have a little more urgency about them early in the second half. As well as keeping the same 11 players on the pitch, Guardiola also appears be sticking with the same formation, which includes Foden on the right of a front three.
This defeat for City means that Liverpool are now within two wins of being crowned Premier League champions. Guardiola's men will be looking to quickly respond when they host Arsenal in a rearranged match on Wednesday, while United - now unbeaten in 10 games - head to Austrian side LASK for the first leg of their Europa League last-16 tie on Thursday.
That's all for today's live coverage. Thanks for joining!
