SMART SAVE! Werner, who is playing against his parent club tonight, gets down at full-stretch and does very well to parry Martins' strike with his fingertips! It's a nice end to the match for the keeper, who salvages a bit of pride after looking quite poor on that third Atletico goal.
FULL-TIME: ATLETICO MADRID 3-0 HUESCA.
90' +1
Well, there will still be three minutes added on at the end of this match. One of them is already in the books, and it was far from notable.
89'
There doesn't figure to be much time added on at the end of this match. It's been played at walking pace for the bulk of the second half, and neither side is showing much interest in still being out on the pitch. The only real stoppages over the last 45 minutes have been as a result of the substitutions.
87'
A sudden burst to life from both sides! A decent attacking spell for the visitors ends following an interception from Partey, and Atletico quickly break the other way. Correa is picked out in space and surges forward, but he sees a shot blocked from 25 yards. Much fuss about nothing in the end.
85'
Huesca will return home after this match to take on Girona, who have put together an excellent start to their campaign. The issues in front of goal will have to be a concern for Leo Franco. Barring a late consolation goal here, his side will be held goalless for the third successive match.
81'
The best chance of the second half for Atletico, as Luis is slipped through by a delicious ball from Lemar, but he lashes his shot into the side netting! The offside flag was raised, but had that gone in, VAR very likely would have determined the defender was in fact onside.
79'
Despite not offering too much in attack in this second half, it's been a professional display from Simeone's men in this second half. They've still spent a lot of time on the ball, keeping the visitors at arm's length and limiting their chances on the break, all while conserving a bit of energy. A big Madrid derby awaits them on Saturday.
77'
These last 15 minutes are going to be a formality, essentially. The second half has been one for the most part, in fact. Atletico are showing nothing going forward that inspires much belief that they can add to their lead. Huesca's opportunities have been limited as well, but they do look the likelier side to find a late goal.
75'
THEY SHOULD HAVE GOT ONE THERE! A nice bit of interplay from Huesca on the break, as Gallar is eventually teed up from 15 yards. He scuffs contact with the shot, but his effort winds up rolling straight into the path of Avila, who just can't direct it beyond Oblak from close range!
73'
There's some tired legs out there for both sides, with just a few days rest since their weekend matches. And with the scoreline out of reach, neither side seems particularly keen on expending any unnecessary energy, either.
Minute
Description
69'
Carlos Akapo enters the game and replaces Luisinho.
A final change for the visitors - the final one for both sides for that matter - sees Akapo come on at the expense of Luisinho.
67'
D. Musto gets yellow.
Frustration setting in a bit for Huesca. Musto sees yellow for a cynical and dangerous challenge into the back of Koke, in an attempt to win back possession high up the pitch.
65'
Gelson Martins enters the game and replaces Diego Costa.
Costa appears perfectly fine as he walks off under his own power, looking a bit disappointed to be coming off, if anything. He's played his part here, with Simeone seeing no reason to try and risk him, as Gelson Martins is on to take his place.
64'
Diego Costa is fouled in an advanced position, and he stays down a bit worse for wear. He's struggled in front of goal this season, but Atletico would really miss his combativeness should he be forced to miss out on this weekend's derby.
62'
Atletico have really taken their foot off the gas in this second half, and while they haven't been punished yet, they certainly aren't looking impenetrable anymore. A comeback seems unlikely for the visitors, but they can definitely make things interesting at least, if it continues on this way.
60'
An instant impact from Avila, who shows great awareness to redirect Luisinho's strike from distance, but he just can't keep it down! Had that been on target, there's no way Oblak was getting to it!
56'
E. Ávila enters the game and replaces S. Longo.
A second change of the night for the visitors sees Avila come on for Longo up top.
53'
N. Kalinić enters the game and replaces A. Griezmann.
Simeone opts to bring Griezmann off here with plenty of time still to play, giving the striker some rest ahead of Saturday's Madrid derby. Kalinic will take his place up top.
52'
Huesca are in the midst of a good spell, passing the ball around well in the attacking half. They really have struggled to try and pick out a decisive final ball, however, as it's been a rather simple night thus far for Atletico in defence.
50'
It's been a slow start to the second half with both teams seeing their share of possession, with the ball being largely contained in midfield. Atletico trailed Real Madrid and Barcelona by a fair bit in goal differential coming into this match, so it would be surprising to see them sit back and not look to add to their lead.
48'
Leo Franco has reacted at half-time in taking off one of his strikers for an extra body in midfield. He's obviously learned his lesson from the 8-2 drubbing at Camp Nou.
46'
Juan Aguilera enters the game and replaces C. Hernández.
A change for the visitors at the break sees midfielder Aguilera replace striker Hernandez.
The second half is underway at Wanda Metropolitano!
45' +3
HALF-TIME: ATLETICO MADRID 3-0 HUESCA.
45' +2
Rúben Semedo gets yellow.
Semedo is the first player to see his name in the book, as he picks up a yellow card for a nasty two-footed lunge at Munoz. There's no need for a challenge like that, especially given the circumstance. He's lucky to only see yellow.
45'
There will be a minimum of three minutes added on at the end of this first half.
43'
The tempo has really fizzled out in the waning moments of the first half. Atletico continue to dominate possession, but with a 3-0 lead to their name, they're in no hurry to add more goals.
39'
L. Hernández enters the game and replaces J. Giménez.
Lucas Hernandez replaces Gimenez at the heart of defence.
37'
This has to be a worry for Simeone! Gimenez has picked up a knock and signals over to the bench for a change. With the Madrid derby coming up on Saturday, they will not want to be without him. Perhaps this change is just a precaution, with Atletico already 3-0 up?
35'
It has all unravelled very quickly for Huesca, who made it through the first 15 minutes rather untroubled, but have now conceded three times in the next 20. They conceded three first-half goals to Barcelona at Camp Nou a few weeks ago, but had at least scored two of their own. This could get much worse for them.
33'
Koke has scored a goal for Atletico Madrid! Assist by T. Lemar.
NO GOAL! Atletico appear to have scored a third as Koke's ball over the top bounces all the way through! Correa was running on to meet it, but never got a touch. Nonetheless the referee determines his presence interfered with the keeper, and that he was offisde.
IT COUNTS! Following a VAR review, it is determined Correa was not offside, and the goal will count! It's credited to Koke, who had no thought of scoring when he chipped that ball in over the top.
Lemar is credited with the assist.
29'
T. Partey has scored a goal for Atletico Madrid! Assist by Á. Correa.
Correa provides the assist, though he didn't do much to help that goal happen.
LOVELY HIT! 2-0!! Partey is picked out in all sorts of space from about 30 yards out, and no one from the visitors closes him down, affording him all the time he wants to shoot... and shoot he does! He takes a touch forward to better the angle, before guiding a perfect effort into the far corner! Unstoppable!
26'
Atletico have soaked up the pressure and are back on the front foot again. They do look very strong in possession, but there's not a ton of urgency in their approach. They seem content being patient on the ball, hoping to lull the visitors into a false sense of security before pouncing.
24'
Well the tables have turned now! Huesca remain in the ascendancy, keeping Atletico hemmed in defence all of a sudden. A corner results in a half-chance, but no one can get the decisive touch. Pressure stays on and Semedo's acrobatic attempt is fluffed as it all comes to nothing.
22'
A better spell from the visitors, who actually keep the ball for a minute or so and manage to get it forward. The end result isn't much as they settle for a blocked shot from 25 yards, but it at least should give them a bit of confidence, not to mention some respite for the back line.
20'
The gulf in class between these two sides is glaringly obvious. Huesca can hardly keep possession for more than a few seconds, rarely able to string more than a few passes together. They've defended well generally speaking, but that's a result of the sheer numbers they have kept in defence.
16'
A. Griezmann has scored a goal for Atletico Madrid! Assist by Diego Costa.
That's a great show of teamwork from Diego Costa, who could very well have gone for goal himself from close range, but he forgoes the chance at grabbing a first league goal of the season to make the sure pass across for Griezmann, setting him up with an empty net.
GRIEZMANN HAS HIS GOAL! 1-0 ATLETICO! Just a second of the season for Griezmann, and he really needed that. He took up an excellent position in the centre of the penalty area and couldn't possibly miss on the end of a wonderfully unselfish pull-back from Costa!
15'
Well there's certainly no lack of confidence in Lemar! Another ferocious strike from distance just misses the mark! He scored a screamer on Saturday, which actually went down as an own goal as it went in off the back of the keeper after hitting the bar. Could he be the man they rely on again tonight?
13'
Full credit to Huesca, who despite seeing little of the ball thus far, have done an excellent job of settling into defence and disrupting Atletico's rhythm. They've made it awfully difficult on the hosts to find even a glimmer of an opening in the final third.
11'
Griezmann and Costa have both struggled in the league this season, combining to score just one goal. Seeing how Huesca's defence was ripped apart by Barcelona, this could be a great opportunity for the duo to break out of their slump tonight. They've yet to get an opening, though.
7'
Lemar manages the first attempt of the match, coming off his excellent performance against Getafe at the weekend, but a wicked deflection sees it behind for a corner. Godin meets the ensuing delivery, but can't direct his header on target.
5'
It's been all Atletico since the opening kick-off, as they've dominated possession and set up camp in the attacking half. They have created precious little with their possession, however, with Huesca keeping plenty of bodies back in defence.
3'
A slow start at Wanda Metropolitano, as possession bounces around in midfield, largely staying with the hosts, who are not doing much to get forward. Not much urgency being shown from the off here.
1'
AND THEY'RE OFF! Atletico in their vintage red and white stripes as they get the match underway, with Huesca in white.
Hello and welcome to live coverage of this midweek LaLiga match as Atletico Madrid welcome Huesca to Wanda Metropolitano!
Atletico got back on track at the weekend, winning for the first time in the league in September. Their early struggles mean they come into this match in a disappointing fifth place, five points back of title challengers Barcelona and Real Madrid.
Coming off successive away victories, in Champions League and LaLiga, the confidence surely will be flowing through Diego Simeone’s side once again as they return home hoping to make it three successive victories ahead of this Saturday’s Madrid derby.
Life in the top flight hasn’t been very kind to Huesca. They picked up four points from their opening two matches, but reality has since hit them, as they have lost three in a row, including an 8-2 drubbing in Barcelona and a 1-0 defeat at home to a Rayo Vallecano side who didn’t have a point at the time.
Largely due to that lopsided defeat at Camp Nou, Huesca come into matchweek six with the joint-worst goal differential in the top flight at minus-seven. Atletico have been desperate to breakout in front of goal, and this might be the prefect recipe for a slump-buster.
CONFIRMED TEAM NEWS:
ATLETICO MADRID (4-4-2): Jan Oblak; Carlos Munoz, Jose Gimenez, Diego Godin, Filipe Luis; Angel Correa, Thomas Partey, Koke, Thomas Lemar; Antoine Griezmann, Diego Costa.
SUBS: Saul, Gelson Martins, Rodrigo, Antonio Adan, Vitolo, Nikola Kalinic, Lucas Hernandez.
HUESCA (4-4-2): Axel Werner; Jorge Miramon, Xabir Etxeita, Ruben Semedo, Luisinho; Alex Gallar, Gonzalo Melero, Damian Musto, David Ferreiro; Juan Hernandez, Samuele Luongo.
SUBS: Ezequiel Avila, Roberto Santamaria, Carlos Akapo, Moi Gomez, Serdar Gurler, Jorge Pulido, Juan Aguilera.
Simeone makes four changes from the victory at Getafe at the weekend. Munoz and Godin come into defence, replacing Juanfran and Lucas Hernandez, while Correa and Partey get the nod as Saul and Rodri Hernandez drop to the bench.
A near flawless first half from Atletico has them on course for a third successive victory across all competitions, as Antoine Griezmann and Thomas Partey put them out to an early lead, before Koke, with the aid of a VAR review, put the match largely out of reach just past the half-hour mark. It should be very routine for Diego Simeone's side across the final 45 minutes.
For Huesca it's another disappointing result away from home, as it comes after they lost 8-2 at Camp Nou in their last LaLiga away match. There's still time for them to make it respectable, but at least for now, it looks as though Leo Franco's decision to play with two strikes and not pack the midfield will not pay off.
Leo Franco makes two changes from their defeat to Real Sociedad, opting to put in a second striker in Longo to partner Hernandez up top, as Moi Gomez drops to the bench. In defence, Etxeita starts in place of Pulido.
That's all for our live coverage, thanks for following along. Goodbye!
Antoine Griezmann's second league goal of the season after 16 minutes, surprisingly the fastest Atletico have scored in LaLiga at Wanda Metropolitano, got Diego Simeone's men off to a flier, and his effort was quickly followed up by goals from Thomas Partey and Koke, as they cruise to a third successive victory across all competitions. They've turned things around after a rough start, and it comes not a moment too soon with the Madrid derby looming on Saturday.
