Hello and welcome to live match coverage of the EFL Cup quarter-final fixture between Aston Villa and Liverpool at Villa Park.

LIVERPOOL (4-3-3): Caoimhin Kelleher; Ki-Jana Hoever, Sepp van den Berg, Morgan Boyes, Tony Gallacher; Pedro Chirivella, Herbie Kane, Isaac Christie-Davies; Harvey Elliott, Tom Hill, Luis Longstaff.
ASTON VILLA SUBS: Lovre Kalinic, Frederic Guilbert, Kortney Hause, John McGinn, Jack Grealish, Anwar El Ghazi, Wesley.
LIVERPOOL SUBS: Ben Winterbottom, Tom Clayton, James Norris, Leighton Clarkson, Elijah Dixon-Bonner, Jack Bearne, Layton Stewart.
Villa come into this clash having scored 11 goals in their last three EFL Cup matches thus far. The home team, however, have failed to win any of their last four matches in all competitions and have managed to keep just two clean sheets all season. Liverpool, meanwhile, have found the net on seven occasions in this tournament and come into this quarter-final clash having won eight of their last nine games. Despite fielding a much-changed team, the Reds can extend their winning run to six successive matches with a win over the Claret and Blue.
The teams are out, and kick-off will soon be upon us here at Villa Park.
The home side will be delighted with the scoreline thus far, but Smith will be hopeful that his side will show more control after the restart. Kodjia has been the main threat for Villa with Van den Berg failing to match his physicality throughout the opening half. Liverpool, meanwhile, will need to tighten up defensively if they are to deny Villa extending their lead further. Elliott has been the most dangerous player for the Reds and, if the away side are to mount a comeback after the break, then the winger’s battle with Taylor will be key.
That brings an end to our coverage of the EFL Cup quarter-final clash between Aston Villa and Liverpool at Villa Park. Thank you very much for joining us. Goodbye!
Aston Villa will find out who they face in the semi-finals following the conclusion of Wednesday’s EFL Cup matches. Their next match, meanwhile, is at home to Southampton in the Premier League. Liverpool, on the other hand, are back in action tomorrow when they face Monterrey in the Club World Cup.
